Another gorgeous Sunday here in heaven, Austin, TX. The picture above is of ‘a’ tributary I found after finding a stream connecting into Lake Austin. What you say? Let me explain. I decided to try a little kayaking in skiers’ paradise, known as Lake Austin.
Lake Austin is actually part of the Colorado River that flows through central texas from a Northwesterly direction to the Southeasterly direction. The section of the Colorado river being Lake Austin is between two dams, Mansfield Dam and the Tom Miller Dam. The latter is actually what makes this section of the Colorado river a lake.
So I found a neat free place, Mary Quinlan Park, to put in my kayak amongst all these high dollar inboard ski boats. The houses were a mixture of cozy homes that have been on the lake for a while, to upscale mcMansions and mansions with waterfalls and stuccoed boat docks with nice TVs.
The waves were a little interesting. Slow rolling waves that made it fairly easy to ride up and down.
Anyhoo. I found this creek and followed away from Lake Austin and went under a tree, turned a curve and found these rocks, clear water, fish four inches long, and a spot to enjoy this stream. The water was making a little sound and the water elevation was dropping about 3 feet into the stream. This was a nice spot to enjoy the clear water, the serenity of the environment and just to breathe. Breathe. Resting and taking in the environment.
I saw a few Long Horns on the drive home. They were not Bevo, but they looked the part.
